Hey gang, decided to take a step back and have a bit of time off program doing what I feel like in the gym.
-For some reason I gravitate towards hypertrophy work so that’s probably where I’m gonna be for a while.
-today I went back to working up to sets of 10-15 on deads like I did in summer and pleasantly surprised myself with 10 @ 100kg on sumo.
-remember when I did conventional? I worked up to a single at 110 today just to see how these would be feeling and it felt great tbh.
-now doing some basic bitch glute work out because why not, don’t @ me. ✌🏻
One of my favourite exercises is the snatch. I did some videos on exercises and drills I do to help improve my snatch and I’ve decided to post them.
The reason I do snatches is to help improve my explosive power and help my build up strength in my shoulders as well as working on my flexibility and mobility, both help me with my other passion which is rugby.
I hope that these exercises will help you get more comfortable with your snatches

Sometimes I miss being a tiny ass human, weighting 44kgs, because at certain times when looking in the mirror I feel huge and manly... especially when listening to others: don’t you lift too heavy? You’re too muscular, especially your upper body... I guess our preferences differ. And often instead of thinking of it simply for what it is - just an opinion I let it influence my day negatively and I overthink all of this. But what can’t be seen in any pic is the hard work behind getting where you want to be, all the compromises, YouTube videos watched (haha), nutrition habits, hours in the gym - all of which influenced my character in an unimaginable way. And all of that is just something to be f**** proud of! 💪🏻
Sunday = Self-care Day
Being a human is super stressful and during the week it’s even more stressful! .
It’s incredibly important to take some time out to look after yourself. It doesn’t matter what that is for you. Wether that is a spa day, sitting down and playing with your kids without your phone or reading a book you have to do it. .
I make a point of taking time out on a Sunday to look after myself. Ya girl loves a bath and when there’s a Kit Kat and Lush involved I can literally spend HOURS in the bath. .
Is it the most productive use of my time? Absolutely because this hour or three out leaves me feeling energised, relaxed and ready for the week! .
Sunday blues? We don’t know her. .

So after a shoulder injury for years that I said to myslef "I just need rest" I went to @harbornechiropractic and saw Nina for a few sessions. I always struggled with any shoulder exercise and just avoided them. Today I hit my PB on the push press and managed to get 60kg for 5 and then 70kg for 1. Moral of the story is GET YOUR SHIT SORTED!!!!!!! @lamarm22 I'm COMING FOR YOU!!!!!

Lately I’ve been really in my thoughts and honestly I’m just here trying to figure some things out. I’ve always wanted to be honest on this page regardless of what I’m dealing with personally. Instagram can sometimes make it out as if everything is all sunshine and rainbows, but sometimes life ain’t easy. Lately I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and I suppose I’m just here to let you know if you’re feeling the same you aren’t alone. Life will have its ups and downs but you will look back on certain situations and remind yourself how far you’ve come. This is also a lil reminder to always show kindness and give love to the people around you no matter what you’re going through, we have no idea of the pain other people may be carrying!
Training has taken a slight back burner for now but that’s OKAY! You will have days when you don’t feel like training and right now that’s where I’m at! I’ll be training 4 days rather than 6 for now so I can focus more on my busy work and personal life.
Take time for yourself and always do what’s best for you and your own happiness.

Oh hello SWEATY BETTY 💦 took some time off because I was working crazy hours and then I got super sick and tbh I think my body needed a good rest but I’m back!! Leg day felt soooo good and sis managed to get so close to hitting a PB 😭 so so close but not there yet !!
Recovery/Active Rest Day... A little look into the recovery work I do the day after a game. ~
Recovering from a match/intense exercise is key if you’re training regularly. Not only will it play a huge role in injury prevention, but it will enable you to push harder in your subsequent training sessions without feeling sore or tired from your previous work. ~
The day after a match I will usually spend about 20 minutes doing light cardio - this will involve a light cycle and a few minutes on the treadmill. I will then use a foam roller and then perform a series of stretches to loosen up. ~
On top of that it’s important to refuel - I make sure I get a good amount of carbs and protein back into my system, and I stay fully hydrated. ~
Give this a try if you want to incorporate active rest days into your regimes (I highly recommend!) ~

At the age of 78, Walter understands the importance of keeping himself active and his mind working. Over the years Walter has faced many health challenges including prostate cancer, heart condition, arthritis, two hernias and shoulder problems
During the toughest of times however, it has never stopped Walter getting up, moving, and making others laugh with his banter
Walter has been with The Gym Glasgow City for 8 years now, travelling 45 mins by bus to get to our gym. He couldn’t imagine training at any other gym. When asked what makes us so special, Walter replied “the people, and the fact it’s excellent value for money”. Walter’s advice to older adults or anyone who is struggling with their health is to “contact The Gym, make the step to inquire and try it out.
